Help & FAQ

Common questions about using Lianas. Still stuck? Just ask Lianas in the chat.

Getting started

What is Lianas?

A private personal assistant that actually remembers you. You talk to it by text or voice, and it keeps the useful context from one conversation to the next, so you don't repeat yourself.

By default it runs on sovereign Swiss infrastructure, and your data is never used to train anyone's models.

How do I get started?

Create an account and just start chatting — there is nothing to configure to use it.

Connecting a calendar, a mailbox or your own AI provider is optional and done from Settings whenever you want.

Which languages does it speak?

English and French, for both the interface and the assistant; it replies in the language you write in.

Memory

How does Lianas remember things?

As you talk, it notes durable facts (people, preferences, projects) into a private memory graph, and recalls only what is relevant to the current topic — not your whole history.

Context from one conversation never bleeds into an unrelated one.

Can I see and control what it remembers?

Yes. The memory graph is browsable, and you can rename, edit or delete any entry, or wipe your memory entirely, from the app.

Voice, web & connections

Can I talk to it out loud?

Yes — real-time voice. Speak and it answers out loud; you can turn voice on or off per conversation.

Can it look things up online?

It can search the web and read a page you point it to when current information is needed, and a chip shows you when it did.

Can it manage my calendar and email?

Calendar: connect a CalDAV calendar (Infomaniak, Apple iCloud, Nextcloud) or Google Calendar to read and create events in plain language.

Email: connect a mailbox (IMAP/SMTP) to read, triage and reply; an optional autonomous mode can reply or escalate on its own, and anything it sends is confirmed with you first.

Both are set up from Settings.

Can it remind me of things?

Ask in plain language ("remind me tomorrow at 9"), including recurring reminders, and it notifies you on every device — even with the app closed once it is installed (see below).

Privacy & your data

Where does my data live?

On sovereign Swiss infrastructure by default. Analytics is cookieless and never identifies you, and nothing is sold or shared.

Can I export or delete everything?

Yes, anytime from Settings — including deleting your account with a full purge of your data.

Can I use my own AI provider?

Yes (BYOK): add your own key (Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, OpenRouter, Mistral…) in Settings and your AI traffic goes straight to that provider. BYOK actions also cost fewer credits.

Credits & plans

Is it free?

There is a free allowance to try everything. When it runs out the AI features pause, but your account, settings and history stay.

The Pricing page shows exactly how credits are counted per action.

What uses credits?

Each AI turn spends from a single balance (text, voice, and every step of an autonomous task). Bringing your own key costs less, and a meter in the chat header shows what is left.

Install on your phone & notifications

Why install it on my phone?

Added to your home screen, Lianas opens like a real app (full screen, its own icon) and can notify you — reminders, follow-ups, task recaps — even when it is closed and the phone is locked.

Install on Android (Chrome)

Open Lianas in Chrome.

Tap the menu (the three dots, top right).

Tap "Install app" (or "Add to Home screen"), then confirm.

Open Lianas from its new home-screen icon.

In the chat, tap the bell to enable notifications and allow them when the phone asks. They then arrive even with the app closed and the screen locked.

Install on iPhone / iPad (Safari)

Open Lianas in Safari (it must be Safari, not Chrome or another browser).

Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up, at the bottom of the screen).

Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen", then "Add".

Close Safari and open Lianas from its new home-screen icon — notifications only work when opened from the icon, not from the Safari tab.

In the chat, tap the bell to enable notifications and allow them when iOS asks. Requires iOS 16.4 or later.

Notifications aren't working

Check that you opened Lianas from the home-screen icon, enabled the bell, and allowed notifications in the phone's prompt. On iPhone, also check Settings › Notifications › Lianas.

No "Add to Home Screen" on iPhone? You are probably not in Safari — open the page in Safari first.

Icon looks wrong or blurry? Reinstall after the next update; the app icons are being finalized.
